Chris Brown is gaining momentum despite the best efforts of his mama on Twitter, so much so that his song “Deuces” is getting much airplay. What’s a hit without a remix? Nuuuthin…a paaawty. So Breezy has every slick talking sex symbol mainstream rapper on one track together with the “Deuces” remix. What can Brown do for you? Not much on this track as the rappers take up most of it, but what he can do is close it out without blowing the track which he does ably.
The track features Drake, who is rumored to be canoodling with Brown’s ex, Rihanna (according to Media Takeout, anyway), T.I. who is rumored to be headed back to the big house and hopefully not canoodling with anyone there, Kanye, who is rumored to be not so happy and totally non canoodling with the blogosphere after some mid-week leakage and F-A-B-O- lous who is rumored to be all hugged up with the ex of Mr. West. Oh yeah They got Andre3000 fulfilling his post The Love Below two verse a year quota. Whew. Enough to jump back and kiss yourself.
The beat is minimalist with an Art of Noise sounding pulsing triplicate electro key with background pianos and for Drake’s intro, the highlight verse on the track. Drizzy weaves smoothly in an out of his verse with a concise conversational narrative, an interpolation of Usher’s “Nice & Slow,” switching back and forth between his patented melodic singing flow and a conventional rap flow. Songs like this are tailor made for Drake’s talent and he owns the intro.
T.I. is next and the track adds a harder drum for him to rip his non South flow. His verse is more concerned with throwing an old relationship in his ex’s face and teasing her inability to move on and get over him. The verse is compact and over as soon as TI finds his rhythm. Kanye seamlessly hits the next verse, filled with his cute/corny punchlines a la College Dropout. Ye raps with anger and bitterness, but he still got love for her moms (how many times have you been in that dance?). He mentions “he gone take my old bitch and turn her to his new bitch, which is either a shot at Fab or some pretty high unintentional comedy as fab follows Ye’s verse. He closes with “when ya’ll talk bout you know hwo I don’t know what you talm bout.” Ahem.
Fab continues the jabs with “she was on some old shit, now I got a new bitch” so perhaps there is a baby rivalry there. His verse is cut in half by a break for Brown where he croons the refrain and gives way to a chopped up “Miss me when I’m gone that Fab hops on and ends with a subdued A/B punchline scheme that sets the table for Andre3000.
Because he’s controlled the supply, his fans are always thirsty with demand but his verse here, while cool isn’t out of this world. His conversational flow is off beat staccato delivery isn’t as smooth as this beat calls for. He does throw a few left hooks that take you different places and he speaks on how hard it actually is to throw those deuces when the pussy is outrageous.
“Deuces” is a dope remix, and while there isn’t much actual singing from Chris Brown, you can add this to the hit list. Deuces. Enjoy.

You know what sticks out to me in this remix is no one actually brought it. You see a high powered lineup like this and you expect them to really go in. They did not. And that was a good thing. They took the track, took their verse, and told a story. It was perfect. I must say this, Fabolous stole the show with his “Drizzy voice” line. I mean, it was a perfect. With it in widespread use online in the social network world, you get it when you hear it. Perfect.
