Rhye: The Fall

By Odeisel

Have you ever heard a track in the background of a television show and wondered who it was? Have you ever heard a song in a commercial and couldn’t get it out of your head? LA-based duo, Rhye just released a single “The Fall,” from their upcoming EP of the same name and that’s the feeling I get from this track.

The song is musically paced by calming key notes and is suitable for anonymous lounging or smooth cruising.  There is an overarching mellow that emits a cooler than Superfly vibe. The vocals could use a bit of passion, even if it is cool on purpose, and a pinch of tumult would add some depth to the song. That said, this is one of those background mood enhancers in the mode of “The Girl from Ipanema.” You have yourself a nice easy drink, scan the bar for pretty girls and relax. I dig it. You might dig it, too. Enjoy. “The Fall.”
