There aren’t too many rappers that can come from New Orleans and become the dopest thing smoking in Hip-Hop (pun intended) after dipping on the biggest dogs on the block, No Limit and Cash Money. Curren$y is living proof that you don’t have to live in the shadow of the ace on the strip. Rather you can take your product and perfect it solo. His upcoming album, The Stoned Immaculate, is sure to keep the fiends coming back for more, but in the meantime,  lead single, “What It Look Like” featuring Wale is a potent sample.

The track opens up with gentle ivory keys serenading as Wale plugs in his affiliations before he spits a wicked smooth hook. Hate him or love him, you can’t argue his versatility when it comes to flow.

In vintage Spitta fashion, he creeps up on the beat with his slow Mary Jane-induced flow. Definitely not ashamed to spit about the fruits of his success as he raps about leather suede seats, luxury baggage and how his Porsche Panamera is flyer than these lames’ American clunkers.

Consistency and Curren$y sound similar, because naturally they go hand-in-hand. If he continues to put out quality material, the kid is definitely going to be sitting higher than the rest (no pun intended.)
