It was a long night when I interviewed Maffew Ragazino Sr. After an earlier book signing and another interview, I hung around until the end of the video/photo shoot outside Yankee Stadium with Ragazino and crew. We hit the McDonald’s parking lot across the street only to catch some dude get duffed out and another haul ass from the heavily policed area. Cops chase that guy while his victim holds his eye and soon, more cops come and a different guy gets his ass tasered. All in a night’s work for Planet Ill.

Ragazino Sr. has been gaining momentum, even opening for Rick Ross this past week. What kind of name is that, anyway? What is he about? I’m sure most of you may be new to him, so consider this an introduction. He’s passionate about rhyme, skilled and hungry. Just how the Planet prefers our artists.
