IllSide Radio Sits Down With Chicago’s Vakill

By Odeisel

The Planet, along with Chicago’s own Square-One of B-Side Radio, have joined forces to bring you the week in review in Hip-Hop and current events, along with the occasional special guest and some music to keep you moving through your day.

This week’s episode of IllSide Radio features an in-depth interview with one fo Chicago’s hardest rhymers, Vakill. The emcee is gearing up for his third album, Armor of God, the follow-up to 2006 critically acclaimed Worst Fears Confirmed.

Vakill speaks on the album and what its title means as well as the difficulties maintaining a buzz when you aren’t dropping mixtapes every month and sending out songs weekly? What happened to the good old-fashioned gangster shit? Vakill attempts to bring that back without glamorizing the very real dangers of the streets and he explains how he is able to walk that line without falling over.

Also in the interview we talk about the streets of Chicago and how they can lead to destruction. He talks about the history of gangs and how the removal of the projects didn’t lead to that removal of the problem. How do you love something that is so destructive? Vakill elaborates on that and goes further on what the Chi city is known for. You don’t want to miss a moment of Vakill and the Ill Side Radio crew. What’s next for the rapper, what other projects does he have coming out and what’s the problem with soft rap these days? Turn your speakers up and blast Ill Side Radio.

Sit back, relax and take a ride on the Ill Side.

  1. Thank your for that great interview. Vakill is one of the most talented dudes I’ve ever heard. Can’t wait for his new album, I ordered it on the first day.
