Wet Circuits Power Strip Keeps Your Kids And Your Party From Washing Out

By Odeisel

It’s getting warmer outside, and the most enterprising of Mr. Softee trucks are gearing up for the heat. That’s right folks it’s time for spring and sun and warm weather. People start to gather and before you know it, you’re firing up the backyard grills for that awesome barbecue. But April has showers and if the warm seasons are anything like the winter seasons, it may be a very wet summer.

What happens when you have everybody over, you’re in the back yard, you got your DJ equipment set up, and the weatherman was wrong? They bright skies become gray the rain starts falling and the party is over. Or is it?

The crew over at Wet Circuits have put together something that will keep the party going till the rain, rain goes away and comes back another day. Their Wet Circuits Power Strip is water-resistant and protects you from shock in rainfall or even flood to a certain extent. Got babies or young children around the house? The strip also protects against the insertion of metal objects (read forks and knives) into its sockets.

I did happen to test the outlet with a glass of tap water. I poured it over the strip and plugged a lamp into the strip and it worked fine. I can’t like to you neither my wife, my team or my friends would be able to explain how I got electrocuted by sticking a fork into the socket, so I’m just going to have to take their word on that (they do warn you not to stick anything the size or the shape of plug tips into the  outlet, so I presume the fit has something to do with opening the voltage up). I’d show you my test but the unintentional comedy of their poorly dubbed video far outstrips (no pun intended) mine.

The trip protector is highly water-resistant and can deal with short periods of immersion but prolonged submersion would obviously deteriorate the device and probably make the water really hot. The strip also has a smart fuse feature that detects overheating and stops electric charges. California people with all of those forest fires, take note.

The unit goes for $70 and can be found HERE.

In the spirit of warm weather and cook outs, and in support of the troops, here’s a lil barbecue DJ battle between Planet Ill’s, DJ Mark presently in Afghanistan and his older brother Kev in a good-natured battle of wax vs. Serato. Support the troops, if not the reason for them being anywhere.

Peace.
