Trailer Treat – Captain America: The First Avenger

By Odeisel

Steve Rogers was a 98 pound weakling from the Lower East Side of Manhattan, raised in the midst fo the Great Depression. A patriot from the “Greatest Generation” Rogers sought to join the United States in bringing down the Axis powers in World War II. Big problem: he was a 98 pound weakling.

After undergoing a secret government process, the details of which died with its lead scientist, Steve Rogers became the pinnacle of human existence, now as fast strong and intelligent as a human being could possibly be and the only one of his kind. With intense training, and a fairly gaudy and jingoistic costume, he became the symbol of liberty (and the overbearing arrogant righteousness ), Captain America.

2011 is the characters 70th year of existence and coincidentally the year he comes to the big screen after a less than auspicious beginning with a couple false television starts. Below is the first real trailer of the movie Captain America: The First Avenger (just titled The First Avenger in countries in Europe that presently chafe under the aforementioned American arrogance in an attempt not to turn off consumers). It tells the basic story and gives you an idea what to look forward to in terms of action and effects. There are subtle changes to the comic book origin but the trailer doesn’t do anything to significantly alter the Captain America mythos or spoil the plot of the movie. So here you go. The First Avenger. Peace.
