So the sign-everybody-up-frenzy seems to be rolling to a close. The lines have been drawn, the sides chosen and Rick Ross is wasting absolutely no time. He is lining his soldiers up and dropping music immediately to let you know what the future holds for Maybach Music.
Rozay’s latest acquisition, Meek Mill, joins the bause on “Perfectionist” to let you know about the Maybach Music hustle. Bricks on deck folks, you know the drill. It’s all about the dirty money. Word to Diddy.
The Alchemist starts the track off with a fluttering piano loop, a little thump, some more percussion on top which leads to Rozay’s first verse. The foundation for Ross is switched to a bouncy bassline, strings and some mellow horn stabs. The track then returns to the piano and drums for Meek. The different sonic panels are switched back and forth as the two emcees pass the mic, giving both Ross and Mill his own signature sound. Eight bars for me. Eight bars for you. The constant movement makes this track wonderfully dynamic. The Alchemist deserves a golf clap for this.
You don’t need to ask what “Perfectionist” is about. Rick Ross has managed to say the same thing a million different ways and this song is no … well… different. Mill falls in place easily and money talk isn’t hard for him. I guess now that he’s working with Ross, there might soon be some truth behind those bars. I just hope he keeps the Jada laugh to a minimum.
Save the Ross is a fake talk. It falls on deaf ears these days. He might not be a kingpin, but he plays one on wax and “Perfectionist” is a perfect example of his thespian abilities. And as long as he keeps bringing in foot soldiers like Meek Mill, Maybach Music is here to stay. Real or not. Enjoy.
