This episode of IllSide Radio features a Square One interview with Lyrics Born, a veteran emcee and producer who has been putting music out independently for nearly 20 years.
He is currently on tour supporting his latest effort, As You Were, a 80’s funk and soul inspired project. In this interview, Lyrics Born discusses what took so long to create this record, and how he decided which guests to work with for the album.
We talk about the importance of keeping an ear out for what artists are doing in order to stay fresh and become more innovative. We follow up the discussion about his voice over work on Cartoon Network, being independent, staying afloat in the music business, what is the best part of his career and whom does he credit for his longevity.
