Big Pun Jay Dilla IllSide Radio: Big Pun, Jay DIlla & Christina Aguillera’s Career Remembered

By Odeisel

The Planet, along with Chicago’s own Square-One of B-Side Radio, have joined forces to bring you the week in review in Hip-Hop and current events, along with the occasional special guest and some music to keep you moving through your day.

This week we commemorate the losses of Big Pun and Jay Dilla. We take a look at the new Jay Dilla documentary and his legacy in Hip-Hop. We check Pun’s status and his legacy as a Latin Rapper and a platinum selling artist with Capital Punishment.  Does Big Pun’s history in the streets take away from this rap legacy or enhance it? What made him such a good rapper?

Jay Dilla left behind a real legacy as a producer and touched the lives of most of the people around him. We take a look at his various hit crafting spots, from his beginnings with the Ummah through his work with De la Soul and Slum Village. Did Jay Dilla really save everyone’s life? What happened to the Soulquarians? Was that a movement wasted?

We briefly check on John Leguizamo’s coming one man show on Broadway. IllSide Radio picked the Black & Yellow to win the big game so we had to take our lumps. We give props to Aaron Rodgers, the People’s Champ while Bears fan Square One was forced to give the Cheese Heads props. The Black Eyed Peas’ critically lambasted performance and Christina Ag’s crash and burn performances are topics of discussion as well. Will the NFL actually lockout? If the NFL & NBA both suffer work stoppages, will men be stuck at home? Probably not.

Sit back, relax, and take a ride on the Ill Side.
