Planet Ill Breakdown: Big K.R.I.T.-Good Foot

By shelz.

Big K.R.I.T. is going big time.  He’s responsible for one of the best mixtapes of 2010, has been collaborating with rising stars and he turned into Sha Money XL’s first pet project with Def Jam. Yes, Big K.R.I.T. was here and it looks like he’s going to stay here, especially if he continues to release songs like “Good Foot.”

K.R.I.T.’s retro soul sensibilities led him to the James Brown funk classic that has served as foundation to songs from De La Soul, EPMD and Big Daddy Kane.  So again K.R.I.T. finds himself in distinguished company and the Hip-Hop newbie stands well with the veterans.

The song is from Ashley Outrageous’ The Playlist Volume 2 and tackles haters, fakers, poses and any other random folks who attempt to get in K.R.I.T.’s way.  He has an agenda and he’s on the path.  Your shit talking won’t get you anywhere except on his shit list. His tale about self-motivation and the hoods crabs in a barrel mentality rides roughshod all over a few toes.  But what are you going to do?  Pump your brakes?  K.R.I.T. passed you a long time ago. Word.

So here you go, Hip-Hop’s future brings whispers of Southern rap’s past but he still manages to make it fresh.  K.R.I.T. is already on the “Good Foot.” Why aren’t you?
