Ke$ha And Andre3000 Get Sleazy With The Remix

By Odeisel

There was a time when you could rank Andre 3000 among the top emcees, even though he never carried a solo Hip-Hop LP by himself. His lyricism was country elegance; never shying away from the South aesthetic and brazenly bathing in profound honesty. Those days are getting further away in the rearview mirror as 3 Stacks, much like Kobe’s defense are now living off rep than results. His latest verses come courtesy of pop fluff artist Ke$ha on the remix to her song “Sleazy.”

Low bottom drums command most of the attention on this track, with 808’s introduced further along in the composition. There are murky voice ad libs that serve as accents and subtle snares that are almost drowned out by bass. There are mini digital atmospherics that snake in and out towards the end of the track.

Gone are Andre’s fluidity and the agility he displayed on those classic Outkast records. His fans may be oblivious, but he has been talking his way through his rap verses since The Love Below. Lyrically he tells the tale of daddy’s departure and sneaks in the importance of the two parent mechanism. Lyrically he’s still relevant and potent is spurts, but that extra pizzazz is missing. He calls Ke$ha Keisha “because it’s hood to her.” Don’t know how to feel about that but I digress.

For Ke$ha’s part, the pussy can’t be bought and she’d much rather kick it in the basement with boys, besties and booze than be at some stuffy exclusive party her friends can’t get in. “I ain’t gonna watch you circle jerk it and work it, I just want to take it where my girls and my mans is.” Your Benz is irrelevant and so are your diamond baubles.

Andre Benjamin has given us some of the greatest Hip-Hop music ever as half of Outkast, but while Chico Dusty’s son delivered a high powered rap release in 2010, 3 Stacks is on some George Bush shit: he just doesn’t care about Rap people. If Ke$ha got as much chance of getting a verse from Andre as Big Boi does, people are going to be waiting for that Outkast album like they have been waiting for D___x. “Sleazy” Remix. Try not to feel used.
