20 years ago, Luke Skywalker and the 2 Live Crew scored a victory, not only for Hip-Hop or even music, but for the First Amendment itself when they were acquitted of obscenity charges stemming from a Hollywood performance at Club Futura. A federal judge in their home state of Florida found their album As Nasty As They Wanna Be obscene and the group, including members Brother Marquis and Fresh Kid Ice were all facing jail time, along with $1000 fines.

Their victory made it possible for artists and people in general to be able to express themselves, and for adults to enjoy the right to expose themselves (no pun intended) to anything that they wished as long as it didn’t infringe on the rights of others. We reserve the right to watch bouncing asses and hear that Miami Bass. While that law also exposes our ears to plenty of weak ass rappers, and murderous fairy tales that couldn’t possibly be true, it also allows for creativity and the pushing of boundaries.

In honor of this victory, and in keeping with the “spirit” of Uncle Luke’s biggest triumph, we  present to you the raunchiest moments of the 2 Live Crew. Long before 50 Cent was celebrating your birthday, Uncle Luke was getting it in, this time post 2 Live. You can’t even hear half the stuff he’s saying, but it sounds good. Is it Leo? Is it Capricorn? Probably not but who cares? It’s somebody’s birthday. Face down, ass up.
