The facts on Twisted Dark Fantasy are becoming just that, dark and twisted. And some of the stuff folks are reporting as fact will probably turn out to be fantasy. So I’m not going to hazard a guess at the final positioning of “Lost In The World.” It is rumored to be on the album, but you know I don’t know. So at this point we will just say we are pretty sure it’s Kanye.
“Lost In The World” is a seamless conglomeration of elements so disparate, it could be a sonic patchwork quilt if it didn’t go together so smoothly. It’s an interesting piece to listen to and even more interesting to break down.
The start is a sample from Bon Iver’s auto tuned a capella piece, “Woods.” The vocal layering and heavy-handed use of the vocoder simulate instrumentation and harmony. There is no real song structure. It’s a folksy chant thing that is then spread over some seriously tribal drums that sound suspiciously similar to those in N.E.R.D.s “She Wants to Move.” Some actual harmony is then added and I swear I hear Charlie Wilson in there, but I must just be programmed to listen for him in Kanye songs these days.
Kanye gives a sing-songy verse about his fair lady being his all and how the surface plastic world isn’t for them, at least for this one night. It’s nothing really special, but this song is more about the track he’s built than his luke warm bars.
The harmony is then lost, the drum is pushed to the front and the song closes with an excerpt from Gil Scott Heron’s “Comment #1.” He drops the bass and replaces his drum with the one used in Herons recording. The organ adds a haunting depth as the piece fades in sparse applause. That may be an omen for the reception of this song. It’s a bit jarring and busy from jump, but give it a few listens.
The beauty of “Lost In The World” is Kanye’s ability to smooth the edges of each ingredient and make them work together. This is more of a production win than a lyrical one, but either way it’s pretty dope. Plus, this is the rough draft. Look forward to the final. I predict it’s going to be great.

The Chant is not Charlie Wilson..trust me…but it happens to be the same person thats doing the chants on “Power” and another undisclosed track on the album. The guy chanting is Alvin Fields…the original lead vocalist of “Continent Number 6 – Afromerica” and “Let’s All Chant” by the Michael Zager Band…along with Ken Lewis…the Co-Producer of “Lost In The World”.
Look Alvin Fields up on the internet…you will be quite surprised with his body of work.

Kanye West’s first career productions came on Chicago rapper Grav’s 1996 debut album Down to Earth. :”*
you can always say that Kanye West is a good singer but he will never be as good as michael jackson ;-‘
