Raekwon and Kanye West and Justin Bieber walk into a studio. Its sounds like the beginning of a bad joke. Depending on what this “Runaway Love Remix” sounds like, it might just be.
I can’t really wrap my head around this line up. Kanye and Raekwon don’t really sound like an odd pairing, but adding the mall rats’ #1 bubblegum pop star is just weird. I mean who is going to feel all these elements? If it’s bent towards the Chef’s crowd, the kid will definitely catch some heat from the old heads. If the song leans towards the Bieber crowd, Rae will be introduced to a gaggle of 12 year olds who will no doubt wonder whose grandpa is rapping with JB.
There is really not much I can say about this project. Is Bieber looking for street cred? Does Rae want to add tweener girls to his demographic? Has Kanye developed yet another loose screw? I’m just confused.
Bottom line, there is something very strange about mentioning Wu Tang and Beiber in the same sentence. Bieber belting out a chorus right after Rae explains how he runs the block and chicks have to be naked before they hit the bedroom door is a bad study in forcing a project and the whole thing over RZA’s snail slowed track sounds like an amateurish mashup. This song is just as bad as the concept logically suggests it should be. I’d much rather listen to this, but BeiberxKanyexRaekwon is below if you are a glutton for punishment.
