This is a good tune but it is not an outake from Exile. It may indeed be a song from that period but the vocals sound very 2009 compared to the slurred drawl of the classic album. Jagger is notorious for doctoring recordings. Case in point: Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out. A great LIVE album but it was edited, chopped, dubbed, sliced and diced to make it that way. Listen to any Stones concert recroding circa ’69-’72 and you will hear the band in their true ragged glory. Also, the Rock ‘N Roll Circus was heavily edited. The Stones made their mark with unoffcial bootlegged recordings where they were off-key, sloppy, and glorious. The Stones were never a slickly produced band like this new recording. Exile has a greasy feel to the sessions and this track is simply over produced. In fact, the backing vocals sound a bit like Lisa Fischer! I have several unauthorized outakes from the Exile sessions. “Get A Line On Me” working title for Shine a Light as well as “Good Time Women” working title of Tumbling Dice with different lyrics. This one is slated for the reissue; can’t wait to see how they doctor this one up. I’m a huge fan of the Stones but I wish they would stopy trying to fool the fan base….call a spade a spade and let the public know that the track is from the ’72 period but was recently re-recorded.
