Yesterday we hit you with the intro to Amerikkka’s Nightmare Part 2: Children of War. Today in episode two we’re entering the part of the album where it begins to gain momentum and establish rhythm. “Cry Freedom” uses the same aerie, haunting sample from Jay-Z’s “Blueprint 2” and attaches a far more meaningful use for it, not that they are comparable songs. The military drum on the hook establishes a mindset that runs throughout the album; one of direction and purpose.
The second song in this episode is “Tomorrow’s Children.” Pace-wise it keeps the same tempo but establishes a dramatic melancholy that adds depth but is sparse enough to lend attention to the vocals. The song concerns itself with future generations that will have to contend with the demons left from the sins of the present. It too carries a militaristic feel with some of the production elements. The chorus itself calls on the audience to see the damage of our present path and how it is framing our future.
I cede the floor to General Steele. Get the true meaning behind these two tracks in Episode 2. Planet Ill.
