Amerikkka’s Nightmare Part 2: Children Of War-Episode 4

By Odeisel

“The State of the Union Address” keeps the pace of “Child of War” maintaining the album’s energy level while delivering a poignant view of the country and how the dependency on Barack Obama as the “chosen one” is not only foolish, but irresponsible as a collective nation. President Obama was elected on a mandate for change but he is not immune to the trapping of the political system and I certainly hamstrung by the prevailing actions of the other arms of government, as well as corporate interests. The song also addresses how not getting involved as a citizen to bring change is passive aggressive abandonment of responsibility. It isn’t an assault on Obama or his position but more an admonition of a lazy citizenry. In addition, Steele continues in the interview below addressing how allowing yourself to be fed numbs your ability to go out and feed yourself.

“We On The Move Now” begins with a slowed down speech excerpt from Dr. Martin Luther King. The topic of said speech was maintaining momentum in the face of adversity. The song itself deals with the inspiration of struggle and how being informed by history creates an inertia towards future progress. Being relentless and unbowed are aspects of struggle that are necessary to keep that motion forward. Being confident in your direction even when you travel the road less travelled is also an obligatory component. The value of being aware of the past and being able to access it is immeasurable and the general elaborates on that very point.

Enough from me.  On to episode four. Planet Ill. Your World, Your Way.
