What’s the good word this first week of November to our Planet Ill reader crew and supporters!
Time to wash away w/some good audio this past week of overcooked beef via Jay-Z & Beanie Sigel w/ a dash of 50 Cent (lame) & Domestic Violence interviews as a promo tool for album sales via Rihanna & Chris Brown (morally disgusting)…
Folks are back in the mix to for another session Indiesent Exposure – the weekly writeup and music download piece here on Planet Ill were we strive to give some well deserved exposure to quality artists doing their thing throughout the independent music circuit.
Pretty much every music genre gets covered in this section at one time or another – Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, House, etc. – to keep the audio goodies a bit on the diverse & lively side.
Hopefully post by post, we’ll give your ears some temporary respite from some of the audio wackness, boredom and/or iCoonery that bombards the masses each day via the mainstream radio and TV airwaves.
If you like what you hear in this section (some of which will hopefully be new to folks), PLEASE support these artists as much as you can in the future – hit up their websites, purchase some product, go to their shows, etc., especially since at the end of the day, they need to eat like everyone else for putting in their work somewhere down the line.
This week, I’m going to focus on three out of the box Hip-Hop, Electronica and Soul music female artists with some mixtape, EP and sampler action.
Since lately music from the ladies sector in a lot of music genres isn’t getting a great wrap as of a late (“Tardy for the Party” anyone?), why not show a bit of what’s good out there here, right?
Check out everything below from these talented artists and let us over here Planet Ill know what you think when you get the chance – hope everyone enjoys the selections!
Here we go:
Chicago, IL Hip-Hop MC and Southern Illinois University graduate Rita J has been rolling with the indie Hip-Hop label mainstay All Natural Inc. for the past 7 years.
She’s on a lot of that label’s releases as a guest MC as well as a member of the group The Family Tree.
Her new album, Artist Workshop, just dropped earlier this week and the All Natural Inc. & Fake Shore Drive Present: ChicaGorita – An Intro to Rita J mixtape is a brief intro for folk to get acquainted with what Rita J is all about.
There are some some old & new songs to intro folks into her style of soulful good vibe Hip-Hop, where you get the notion that she’s woman you’d like to get to chill with. Along with some solid MC skills and production, Rita J to me is definitely worth the while to check out.
Find out more about Rita J’s music, performances and other happenings over at her official MySpace page, http://www.myspace.com/RitaJackson.

theDollDaze respresents the Atlanta, GA region with an excellent & interesting blend of indie Pop, Rock and Soul Music influences in her music.
Since her first independently released album in 2006, Watching Carousels, theDollDaze has been consistently on tour internationally performing and selling her music by all means.
She just recently dropped a new collection of music for free download, ACID REPORT – the missing peace EP, which has some pretty nice mid-tempo to high paced grooves.
You can find out more about what’s going on with theDollDaze’s latest performances, music projects and such over at her official website, http://www.TheDollDaze.com.

New York & Atlanta representative Amanda Ray’s music to me has an ambient electronic & soundtrack score-like type of overall feel, but at the same time there’s a lot of Soul, Rock and Jazz influences up in the work that she does as well.
This description I’m sure sounds type confusing, but is the closest I can get to describing her music – like how The Matrix would have been scored if the original writer (at least that’s what’s floating out there) was a part of it.
Definitely music to get folks more on the mellow side, the two Mirrored Images sampler tracks below definitely show that she’s been influenced from everyone from Massive Attack and Radiohead to Sade and Nina Simone .
To purchase the full Mirrored Images by Amanda Ray, find out about here latest tour schedule and other things, hit up her official website at http://www.AmandaRay.net.
