What’s the good word Planet Ill Reader peoples this post-Thanksgiving a.k.a. “I Ate Too Much, Got the ‘Itis & Spent Too Much $ on the ‘Net & Mall” (for my folk in the United States) weekend?
It’s time again during the week for another session Indiesent Exposure – the weekly writeup and music download piece here on Planet Ill were we strive to give some well deserved exposure to quality artists doing their thing throughout the independent music circuit.
Pretty much every music genre gets covered in this section at one time or another – Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, House, etc. – to keep the audio goodies a bit on the diverse & lively side.
Hopefully post by post, we’ll give your ears some temporary respite from some of the audio wackness, boredom and/or iCoonery that bombards the masses each day via the mainstream radio and TV airwaves.
If you like what you hear in this section (some of which will hopefully be new to folks), PLEASE support these artists as much as you can in the future – hit up their websites, purchase some product, go to their shows, etc., especially since at the end of the day, they need to eat like everyone else for putting in their work somewhere down the line.
This time around, I have 3 free albums I’ve been rocking heavy for the past week from the internets that are touch base on the Soul, Electro, Hip-Hop & Dubstep ends of the Music spectrum.
Check out everything below from these talented artists and let us over here Planet Ill know what you think when you get the chance – hope everyone enjoys the selections!
Here we go:
The Hinesville & Atlanta, Georgia music duo Dukes of DaVille (consisting of Cedric “Ric aka Ricky Balboa” Lindsey and James “Jimi” Smalls), have been known each other & have been working together since they were children.
Some folks may know of their work during the time frame they were signed with Capital Records with songs like “Cry Baby” or their previous mixtape work with the “We Are Music” release.
Now that they’re rolling independently, Dukes of Daville dropped a pretty great full length album release with The 13th Floor, which consists of a solid and natural feeling mix of Electro, Soul & Hip-Hop music grooves. We’ve rocked their music over on the radio show for a minute and think the Indiesent Exposurefam would dig the Dukes as well.
Find out more about Dukes of Daville over at their official website at http://www.DukesWorldOrder.com.

Carson, California MC Ras Kass has had a VERY interesting career & life throughout the years in the Hip-Hop world.
It was been filled with ups (his classic album Soul on Ice and numerous lyrically solid & energetic guest appearances on songs), downs (his battle with Priority Records over his contract, constantly pushed back, leaked or unreleased albums like Van Gogh & Goldyn Child, arrests for drunk driving, etc.) and relative calm periods like now, where he’s been doing his thing as an independent MC.
The Quarterly LP has just dropped this week (which you can get for free.99 aka no $ or whatever you want to pay for it via the link) from Ras Kass as part of a campaign where he was putting out a song per week for fans and others to see what was good with him.
The solid line up of production on the boards (with folks like Pete Rock and others) and guest appearances with heads like Mistah Fab, Killah Priest and more along with Ras Kass’ regular skillset of dope lyricism make this a worthy album for folks to check out in my opinion – what do y’all think?

I first got knowledge of Brooklyn, NY’s Elucid & his work in the Dubstep music realm by my folk Khal over at Rock The Dub.
Putting together some dope rhymes over really heavy bass filled Dub Reggae, Dubstep & experimental Hip-Hop influenced beats, Elucid does his thing very nicely on the The Sub Bass Diet LP project by bringing complex Hip-Hop MCing on another plane (but not so much, folks won’t be able to get into it on a pure enjoyment level since we know these things sometimes can become a pretentious muiscial mess).
Get a hold of more of what’s the goodness with Elucid over at his official MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/ElucidMusic.
