The last time Big K.R.I.T.  and Curren$y was on a track together, they made Planet Ill’s Top 50 Songs of 2010 list with the awesome “Skybourne” from Curren$y’s Pilot Talk. Killa Kyleon adds the treacherous third on “The Moon & Stars (Remix),” an ode to those candy-painted cars that reminds you of the run that Houston Hip-Hop had a few years ago, but with better lyricism.

Melody is the name of the game on this track as funk guitars get wah wah’d and the bass that is ever-present in Southern car songs is there for rich texture. Snares help pace the song and the drums serve as the binding element of the soul soufflé

Big K.R.I.T. opens the track and croons on the hook like a Devin the Dude that can actually sing.  He’s on the road looking for something to get into when he finds himself in the club. The girls see the candy paint on the Cadillac but don’t get it twisted if you’re on the come-up. Big K.R.I.T. is capeless. You can blow on some trees and then blow on _____. His flow is milky smooth and he segues flawlessly from singing to rapping.

Killa Kyleon takes a forward approach, yelling “KILLA!” from the gate and taking an aggressive tone in his delivery. He employs an alliterative style on the opening with the letter “p.” He can’t see the haters through his Louis V lenses, but he knows they’re green with envy at his ride. Chicks are watching as well as the police and the jackers but Killa is like “in Magneto mode, he keeps the metal round.”

Curren$y is wide awake on this one, departing from the live band acoustic relaxation on his Pilot Talk series and spitting with assertiveness.  Don’t bring no cheap ass weed because that will get you ejected like Laserbeak from Soundwave. He’s got the weed low in the whip watching all three mirrors trying not to catch that possession charge, word to Wiz Khalifa. Curren$y is much too high for orange juice, it’s traight Tang like the astronauts.

This track is dope and the video has *gasp* black women in it. And that’s always a great thing. No racially ambiguous chicks (we still got love for the hybrids) or rail thin token white models. Around the way filet is the fish of the day and that’s a thumbs up. Even if you don’t drive or smoke, you can groove under the light of “The Moon & The Stars.”
