Contrane (Miles Warren) just plugged Benny The Butcher and El Camino with a riotous banger on new track Gucci Scales.
The track gives you that old Kanye/Heatmakerz feel with the sped up, Chipmunked sample but breaks left with an airy, raucus electric guitar atop a muffled drum. The guitar gets distorted, chopped up, and pulled under water keeping your ears off-balanced and
There are money machines that fit perfectly with the getting money Griselda motif and a knocking piano that feels like a railroad alert that brings urgency to the two verse and through composition. Track ends with an extended but unnecessary movie clip. Otherwise a hulking beat that is a nice change of pace from the murky, plodding, murderous Darringer production.
Benny the Butcher maintains the hunger that has ravaged 2019. It is plugs, drugs, and Hip-Hop delivered with vigor and the spirit of authenticity. His career is the big payback to his non-believers and the hood that tried but failed to take him under.
El Camino is smooth riding shotgun with a spirited flow. He’s still working on his gravitas and presence but his mechanics are improving. He carries his leg of the race ably.
Gucci Scales is delivered with malice intended, just the way Hip-Hop should be. I like this shit. Turn it up loud.
