The Gold Souls hail from Sacramento, CA, a place not necessarily known for funk and soul. Lead singer Juniper Waller helms their latest track True Blue, from their album due later this year.
True Blue is a mid-tempo groove produced by two-time Grammy winning producer Timothy Bloom. The track is smokey and moody with a groovy feel that includes a bridge that maximizes Waller’s soft, sultry delivery. In Waller’s words:
TRUE BLUE is inspired by the uncertainty and complexity of love. It juxtaposes the embrace of individual needs with the reach for romantic depth.
The Gold Souls are truly a Voltron of a band, with each member having a hand in creating their sound. Waller and drummer Billy Thompson wrote the song, which deals with the idea of falling in love in the middle of trying to do your own thing and self improve. Que sera sera.
The Gold Souls are hitting the road this spring along the West Coast and Texas. We’ll see how they develop their sound as the year progresses. For more info visit their site www.TheGoldSouls.com
True Blue. Enjoy.
