Kansas City’s Tech N9Ne has been on a rampage for over 20 years. The Strange Music emcee has been on a mission to prove that indie rap can be just ass effective as the major labels. Strange Music has the PR, the organization, and most important, the music to compete for your ears and dollars. They even manufacture their own CD’s.
Tech N9ne’s latest salvo is a performance along with label mate and comrade-at-arms Krizz Kalico was a stop at NPR’s Tiny Desk series. Tiny Desk features big names such as Rakim, T.I., and Erykah Badu getting funky with a live band.
The set, short for a Tech N9ne show, featured the tracks “Dysfunctional,” “Aw Yeah,” “Fragile,” and “Speedom.” Rapid-fire with a touch of musicality. Tech and Krizz show emcees how it should be done as the Strange Music machine rolls on.
