Blue Chips was a B-ball movie featuring Shaq and Penny Hardaway back when they were babies. Nothing about Action Bronson conjures an athletic image but he’s chosen to name his mixtape series Blue Chips and the latest, Blue Chips 2 just dropped this week. The production, by some cats named Party Supplies is crisp and fluid, ranging from hood landscapes, samples of Pee Wee Herman theme songs and 70s Starksy & Hutch dirty New York aura tracks.

You could be steaming dog shit and sound good on these and Ghostface lite is more than qualified to bang on these tracks. It isn’t his best work but he’s confident and again the beats do all the heavy lifting. This is good for more than a few listens and the project as a whole is strong if not transcendent.  Give it a few spins. Try to ignore the many images of Bronson inviting blowjobs and getting busy. Blue Chips 2 is dope and the story line is consistent.
