Soothingly morbid. That’s what after watching this video for Bad Weather. Bad Weather is the first single from electro-pop group Starwalker, formed by the joint forces of Frenchman Jean-Benoit Dunckel from AIR and Icelandic composer Bardi Johannsson From Bang Gang (not gang bang pervs). Bad Weather is the tale of a relationship gone awry and the aftermath. How will you be remembered by the ex-factor? As an angel or a devil? Something more complex? The sonic landscape runs counter to the rabid energy of most electronic acts and relies on dramatic tension and melancholy rather than electric pyrotechnics.
The haunting visuals, directed by Saevar Gudmundsson and Jeaneen Lund and filmed in Iceland conveys themes of isolation and sparse, scary elements. Hooded figures, black balloons and vacant red stones desert landscapes evoke a theme of hopelessness and drowning in that isolation. This is creepy shit, but cool enough for a Sunday morning fix, especially if your girl left you for some rapper or a drummer from a garage band. Enjoy. Bad Weather.
