Not Guilty. The two words that enraged an entire nation to get up and protest against the verdict of the Zimmerman Trial. Planet Ill decided to step outside to explore, investigate, and share with the community of Los Angeles at Leimert Park on the infamous Crenshaw Boulevard. Here are some photos from the protest of The Zimmerman Trial and people are extremely upset. Despite reports to the contrary, there were no violent incidents beyond the general disdain for LAPD, whose tenuous relationship with the South Central LA community existed long before the Zimmerman Verdict.
There were police on foot, in squad cars and on motocycle brigades as well as the omnipresent helicopter (ghetto bird). Black, brown and white came together to voice their displeasure with the controversial verdict and call for justice. The event brought different organizations and age groups for one common cause. Sometimes the need to blowoff steam and get things off your chest as a community are necessary and peaceful events like this serve as not only a show of solidarity, but also the strength in numbers of people that feel this verdict and the societal issues connected with the Trayvon Martin incident should be address. it’s important that the community stands its ground. Justice for Trayvon.
