During our run here at Planet Ill, we’ve seen a lot of new cats come and go and while some are flashe sin the pan, others we watched proudly as they grow and develop. We just interviewed the kid 20 Grand Pikaso, after posting a track of his a few weeks ago. We got some really good insight into what make shim tick and what powers his engine. We’ve been listening to more of his music, just to see if this guy really has legs. Then his man Sha Banga hit me up with his new video, Dos Equis. It’s tough man. I can’t lie to you. his delivery is smooth, confident and assertive. Fluid.

The track has that soulful grit that reminds you of that mid-90s street shit. There isn’t an overabundance of profanity and every line is woven together. Right now A.S.A.P. Rocky and the formerly terrible French Montana are carrying the New York flag of relevance and that now generation sound, but 20 Grand Pikaso, at least what I have been hearing in the last few weeks, is dropping that gritty Brooklyn now music. It’s nuevo hustler, minus the bully gun talk but retaining the true grit. Does Pikaso have legs? We’ll keep you posted.
