The Planet was down with Thurzday since he departed UNI and began his solo run with the astounding LA Riot. We’ve been down with Johnny Polygon since we caught up with him for an interview  a few years ago. The both of them together? You know the crew is checking for that. So when we heard that Johnny was producing Thurz’ newest video, we took a look.

“Are You Not” is a pretty stunning visual, with the scorching hot Kimmy Kamish playing femme fatale in black lace lingerie. Thematically it builds on “The Killers” from Thurz’ debut as that killer pussy once again takes center stage. What is initially a kinky hook-up turns decidedly sinister and our hero gets done in by the pussy.

Sonically it is a departure from the Rock elements prevalent in LA Riot but it’s got some kick. The groove is mellower, and Polygon’s crooning, along with the sultry videos take you along for a right that distracts you from where the song is going. With Kimmish mouthing the words in bra and panties with brick red glossy lipstick, she could be rapping dad mad glad and it wouldn’t make a difference. You’re only snapped out of your trance by the outcome and then you’re forced to rewind the vid and start listening to what the hell Thurz was saying. Job well done.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I am totally waiting to see how Thurzday responds to Kendrick’s m.a.a.d. City and how he crafts a follow-up to LA Riot. This step is to the left but the quality is still there. We’ll see what he’s got left. “Are You Not” entertained? Hell yeah.
