After the Air Jordan shoe revolutionized the sneaker game, Nike took position at the top of the athletic shoe game and has not ceded an inch since. But it wasn’t for other shoemakers to pack up and bounce, and Reebok, aside from flashes of sports brilliance like the Pump series, managed to find other ways to get paid.
The Reebok classic set trends for style and casual looks that were out of the realm of the brute force Nike represented. In New York we called them 5411 because that’s how much they cost plus tax back then. The classic line went great with jeans and casual clothes and they changed the game when they came with the bubblegum soles the ice soles and the inimitable…actually very imitable peanut butter soles.
Everything old is new again and this holiday season, for the first time in ages, Reebok is bringing back the peanut butter in a big way with 5 smooth as…peanut butter color ways. Matte-finished leather uppers in different muted but masculine shades to go with just about any fall outfit you can imagine, this fall. Here’s a look at the line, which is dropping on December 15th at outlets near you. Stylish. Slick. Classic.
