K.Gaines of the Sleepwalkas: Kung Fu Bum

By Deep Of 2 Hungry Bros

K.Gaines has recently taken quite the hiatus after the Sleepwalkas album  Cornball Cookie Cutter Cats Can’t Cut It On This CD dropped last year in March. It’s as though he’s gone into hiding to concoct something profound for all. That I can attest to, but in the meanwhile, he’s found an incredible crew of aspiring Film Makers, Chopstick Graffiti that consists of Director, Peter Lawton and Producers, Richard Maldonado and Frances Savignon.  They have been entering film contests yearly and producing short movies and some videos. They are currently working on something with Justina Soto and the Salvation Army Band as well as a Mockumentary with Gaines, the WILDMAN.

Though on this endeavor Peter Lawton was able to combine both artists from 2 different Genres to produce Kung Fu Bum for this year’s 24 Hour Film Festival.  The Themes were listening to music, being the last 1, and the prop was the number 1.  Gaines is the star and Justina brought a guitar to the editing session and spontaneously freestyled the awesome 1 song soundtrack that you will hear and will haunt you. It qualified as a finalist for the competition and was screened at the AMC Movie Theater on 11th Street and 3rd Avenue in New York City June 28th, along with many other finalist entries which are sure to be as entertaining and intriguing as this one.  It won best Audience Award that night and moved on to the Nationals where it tied for Best Special Effects. Here is the extended Director’s Cut, just in case most of you didn’t make it.

So if you need a good laugh don’t hesitate to watch. And please look out for more music, visuals, and antics from K.Gaines, Justina Soto, and Peter’s Chopstick Graffiti clan, whether individually or collaboratively.

Sometimes I write slow sometimes I write quick, I'm gritty and brittle like a chick o stick. I love all kinds of music but I have my ear to that Hip hop we all grew up loving and listening to. The salt and pepper Facial Hair Rap.
