Consistency is something hard to maintain in the world of music, particularly if you are a rapper. Tastes change like the ebb and flow of the tide and lately, pop music has invaded the house that Run built to the nth degree. But Reks, Massachusetts’ most consistent emcee this side or Keith Elam has been delivering credible bars for almost a decade.
I’ve been listening to Reks since the release of his of R.E.K.S. album last year and his work with Statik Selektah. In 2012, the two Massachusetts’ natives go to bat for the East Coast with the gritty banger Straight No Chaser. Statik produced the entirety of the album as Reks sheds light on relationships turned sour, the need for men to play bigger roles in their children’s lives and more of the gritty street lyricism Reks is known for. Check out what I had to say about Straight No Chaser below.
