The last time I watched one of Marilyn Manson’s videos, I was stuck researching Alejandro Jordorowsky for a week. This time I’m more familiar with Marilyn’s inspiration. And I don’t mean Jim Jones the rapper.
Back in the late 70’s, Reverend Jim Jones led close to 1000 people to Guyana under the guise of spiritual enlightenment. He then admitted he was an atheist and murdered all of his followers by making them drink poisoned Kool-Aid. It’s a simplified version, but pretty straight on. It has also been established that Jones was having sex with plenty of the folks in his congregation. There is a little of all of that in this video.
I’m preferring this song to “Born Villian” and Manson’s boogeyman act is always believable. I think Born Villian is shaping up to be one of the more anticipated albums of the summer. If you like this kind of thing .
