Jack White’s Blunderbuss may not be your cup of tea. The homey cadence to some of the songs with the slight squeal of a fiddle makes the country tinge undeniable. The guitar work on the rock leaning songs is at times distorted and off kilter. If this isn’t your sound, you won’t run to listen. If it is, you should. Jack White has put together one hell of an album.
Not just from a construction standpoint either. The overriding theme is the growl of dissolution; that moment when it becomes painfully obvious that your relationship is some bullshit and your partner isn’t very likable. It sucks ass and White articulates it perfectly.
But this show isn’t just Blunderbuss. There’s some White Stripes, some Dead Weather, a cut from Rome and some Raconteurs too. If you are a Jack White fan, you will absolutely love it. Enjoy.
