I’m not a big fan of Sigur Ros. I can’t pronounce their name. I don’t understand the words to any of the songs. I can’t read the album liner notes. However, I have to admit there is something pretty mesmerizing about what they do. We’ve learned from Bjork that Icelandic folks have a flair for the dramatic. Sigur Ros is no exception.
The first taste of their upcoming album, Valtari, is “Ekki Mukk” (see what I mean) and it’s a colossal piece of music. Need something overwhelmingly melancholy to fill up every nook and cranny of the room your stereo inhabits? This is your tune.
Anyway, the album drops in May. I’d post the track listing, but you won’t be able to read it. Here’s Ekki Mukk. Get your hanky. You’ll need it.
