So back in 2008, as you can see in the vid up top, Cudi performed “Dose of Dopeness” live. The video circulated and all the Cudder followers started counting the days until they could get a full-on, studio recorded and mastered version for the archives. Days turned into months and before you know it, kids born after the video was recorded signed up for pre-K. But finally, finally… it’s here.
The piano and synth driven track provided by Mescudi’s latest partner in crime, Dot Da Genius, sets a sentimental backdrop as Cudi waxes nostalgic about the come up. There’s some last century homage with a Krush Groove reference and Dora the Explorer even gets a shout out. Sweet in its intent and vibe, “Dose of Dopeness” makes the lonely stoner seem a little more accessible. Nicely done.
