All these Metallica 30th anniversary freebies are awesome. So awesome, I’m totally out of Lulu jokes. Today we have “Hell and Back,” another song recorded during the Death Magnetic sessions that didn’t make the final cut. This one, just like “Just A Bullet Away,” has been hanging around the internet for the past three years, but “Hell and Back” (formerly known as “To Hell and Back”) in particular was damn hard to find in it’s entirety. Until now.
Hearing this song, as Metallica put it, “unpolished… the original rough mix from March of 2008 in its rawest, untouched form,” I can only imagine what this would sound like as a polished, final mix from 2008 in its un-rawest, touched up form. It would probably be a great song. That intro is killer.
So without further adieu Metalli-fans.. “Hell and Back.”
