The term “get in where you fit in” has never been more applicable than with the Low End Professionals. The Bogus Boys aren’t exactly the sharpest razors in the cell block as far as lyricism is concerned. However, in a wide open market, they bring a more menacing shtick than almost anyone, making them a sight for sore gangsta eyes.
The follow up to the third installment of Don’t Feed the Killaz is, amazingly enough, not another installment of Don’t Feed the Killaz. It’s Now or Neva. But there’s no Elvis here, just 17 ominous foundations covered with threats and declarations of street domination. Yes, all 17. And the intro. Umm… the outro too.
In other words, there are guns, expensive jewelry, even more expensive lawyers and lots and lots of brick moving. They sell drugs. All day. Everyday. Night time too. There’s no sleep, or meals or trips to the movies. Just 24 hours (25 on some days) of cooking and pushing dope. And unfortunately for some of us, that’s about as tedious as it gets.
However, when you are a hardcore fiend and this is all that’s available to you, it’s going to be the best cracker you ever had. Ritz swag.
Don’t get me wrong. All these songs don’t suck. Some are actually pretty dope. It’s just too many of them lumped together. “25th Hour” with its horror movie vibe and Bruh Man from the fif flo’ hook sets a dark tone and G Counts’ laid back confidence, especially, flows over it perfectly. “Faces” is a heart-wrenching story of youth gone horribly wrong. The piano chops through the synth while the bass groove holds it together like glue from the bottom. Nicely done. Also, check “Zombie Land” with Lupe Fiasco, a song that seems to secretly decry the life they champion over a great frenetic, wailing synth loop and surging strings.
Need something to soundtrack your gangster fantasies? Now Or Neva is for you. Just don’t listen to it all at one time. It tends to get a bit monotonous half way through. Enjoy.
