When I first heard YC the Cynic, I wasn’t impressed. There are a lot of rappers that think that because they are weird, or because they are underground, they should be lauded for their weird ass difference. But the more songs I heard, the more I saw his skill and talent. That oddity became help rather than hindrance and he’s been picking up steam for the last six months or so. We even ended up interviewing the kid.
After dropping his “Hello Newman” track a couple weeks ago, there are no signs of stopping and here, above is his latest video, “More and More” featuring Soul Khan, Von Pea and Sene. Some of you may not remember the days when rap videos actually had concepts and real directors with vision. This one is a throwback to that. No models, no Times Square shots and no clubs thank heavens. It’s just a solid J57-produced song, featuring strong lyrics delivered by credible emcees, with straight jackets and kidnapping. Intrigued?
Each verse spits a different flavor and each emcee delivers over the jazzy track with pizzazz. I won’t ruin the storyline for you but the song s is dope and the video makes it better. Take a look, Bump it and I’m sure you’ll want “More and More.”
