Bruiser brigade rejoice. Black and Brown is on its way and the 2nd song from the collaborative project, “Zap,” is upon us. What’s with these rappers premiering rap songs at non-rap outlets though? Who really loves you baby? I’m just saying.
Black Milk says this isn’t a Frank Zappa sample and I’m not going to argue with him. What it is, however, is some hazy, spacey 2030 atmospherics with enough of a whisper of Japanese folk to make the RZA proud.
Danny Brown unleashes a handful of quotables while discussing drug love and distasteful sex exploits in between beating on his chest. Brown is odd and aggressive, two traits that would have made him G-Unit’s mascot, but alas those damn skinny jeans. Have to be true to yourself though right?
Anyway, “Black and Brown” was one of the best cuts on Black Milk’s Album of the Year. Good enough to spin off a whole EP from the participants. I think as long as Black Milk can feed off Brown’s eccentric style, this is going to be one great offering. “Zap” (no Roger) Enjoy.
