Well, what do we have here? I’m still cheering the freakin’ weekend and Rihanna is already preparing to drop a new album? Color me shocked as hell because I sure didn’t know. The next three months are going to be crazy busy.
Anyway, this is the first single from the album. Maybe you’ve heard it before, maybe not. I didn’t even know any of this was going on so don’t feel bad if this is new to you too. Calvin Harris serves up some very retro club stuff for Rihanna to spread her lyrics over. A steady thump hosts some of those synth stabs and fun house keys that have become so popular recently. Not much different than what was going on in the late 80’s but I’m sure most of you weren’t around for that.
I’m hearing something about hopeless love. She sings about him making her feel a certain way about something or other and she can’t deny it. However, she decides to walk away. Good for her because I know Usher wanting folks to make love in the club got a lot of y’all in trouble. Then everything just loops back around and repeats. That’s about it.
Bright strobes and a couple of drinks will make you forget this is a pretty simple song. It will pack the dance floor and that’s the whole point. Rihanna’s new album is set to drop in November. Now I know to look for it. “We Found Love.” Enjoy.
