Headline Holla: Tyler Takes Tweet Back, Rihanna Is Pro Black, Lauryn Hill Comes Back

By Tora B

Poetry resonates a power that gives us insight on the different daily challenges that we face and brings awareness of our surroundings. When conservatives decided to passive aggressively bash the President by using Common and Jill Scott as collateral damage, the rest of us realized that the mythical post-racial America looked a lot like the same surroundings we grew up with. Despite the forced controversy, the White House’s Evening of Poetry went on without a hitch. Despite the harsh criticisms of both performers by Fox News and others, both Common and Scott gave amazing insight on what it is to be American poets.

“F*CK DA POLICE!

Tyler the Creator visited Westchester High School in Los Angeles, CA to promote the release of his new solo album, Goblin. Unfortunately, it has been reported that he was arrested and charged for disturbing the peace, loitering and skate boarding on school property. Like every rapper who has been arrested, Tyler decided to tweet about his experience with the cops and began to rant via twitter:

“FUCK POLICE YOU ALL I HOPE YOU ALL DIE” “I WILL NEVER RESPECT YOU.” “PIG”

Yet, like all rappers, Tyler decided to delete his rant to the police. 🙁

If You Know What’s Good For You, Don’t Tweet Beef With Rihanna!

Rihanna decided to release the cover art for her next single, “Man Down” via Twitter. However, a “fan” decided to tweet to Rihanna, “Why does her hair look so nappy?” which created a Twitter beef, that she was not ready to handle, with the pop singer. Check out Rihanna’s response below:

Despite more reports of leaving her audience hanging at shows, Lauryn Hill hit the stage on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” for a performance last night, in honor of “Bob Marley Week” for the show and while we’ll never see a Fugees reunion nor see her at her apex again, it’s always good to see Ms. Lauryn Hill performing on television again.

Check out the performances below:

“Could Be Love”

“Chances Are”

Fonzworth Bentley and Estelle just happened to be watching last night as well. Here’s what they thought:
