The Planet, along with Chicago’s own Square-One of B-Side Radio, have joined forces to bring you the week in review in Hip-Hop and current events, along with the occasional special guest and some music to keep you moving through your day.
So much for March going out like a lamb. It’s cold and rainy in Chicago and New York and the IllSide Radio crew is feeling the breeze. There was some sunshine in Cleveland, however and the Cavaliers had their day with a victory over the Lebron-led Heat this week. We look at the aftermath of the game, Dan Gilbert’s response, the role Baron Davis played in the victory and whether that loss made the Cavs fans’ year.
We look back at the first quarter of the year and looked at the major releases and mixtapes. We track 50 Cent’s resurgence through the early part of the year and the possible reasons for his return to classic form. Is he really the underdog again? There are a few artist signings (Freddie Gibbs to Young Jeezy/Glasses Malone to Mac 10) that we review, as well as releases from Lupe and Raekwon and whether or not they delivered in the first quarter. What are our faves? Listen and find out!
We do a mini forecast of the remainder of the year and talk about what we’re looking forward to. Wiz Khalifa’s album dropped this week and the crew examines whether or not he’s going to be one and done. Big K.R.I.T. dropped his Return To 4Eva free album with sprinkles of greatness. Can he go even higher? Building off that, we look at some of the biggest one hit wonders and their lasting legacies. What exactly makes someone a one-hit wonder?
All this and more, plus a couple songs on this week’s show. So sit back, relax and take a ride on the Ill Side.
