This “S&M” song just will not go away will it?  The initial leak left me a bit discombobulated, wondering if it was Rihanna at all.  As much as our good girl had gone bad, I guess I was stunned for a second that she had gone that bad. Then there were those lyrics that bordered on the offensively cliché. Given, no one wants to hear a doctorate level dissertation about getting their freak on, but stringing a line of naughty bumper sticker phrases together is a bit cheesy.

Being the club catalyst that it was, Rihanna’s ode to getting tied up and D’ed down served Loud well and the song slowly became a radio staple.  Then there was the video.

The furor behind the images was again a bit confusing.  It’s not like we haven’t seen any of that stuff before.  If you’re living well enough, you’ve had a chance to try a few of those bedroom concepts. So I guess those who just couldn’t bear to watch were those who hadn’t quite embraced their sexuality or folks who still think it’s cool to use the boob tube to babysit their 7 year old. Either way, that came and went as well.

Well, now it’s back… again.  This time Rihanna has Britney Spears co-signing all this rough sex talk.  Britney offers her best purr while she takes Rihanna’s idea to the next level, cooing about being bound and gagged and whatnot.

The song isn’t much different.  Spears doesn’t blow Rihanna out of the water or anything as neither has an earth shattering voice, but it’s a healthy combo sure to jump start the sales of both ladies’ albums and your summer.  So get your ball gag and furry handcuff game up.  These ladies mean business.
