As we grow and experience things in life, we change a little. Our core remains the same but like trees we add layers that change how we deal with the world and look at things. We gain the ability to look at the same old things with a different eye and how to deal with things from different angles. Jerztheproducer grew up East Coast Hip-Hop. He learned to play the drums and the saxophone as a child and got involved in Gospel, further rounding out his musical makeup.
After spending some time in Atlanta, following a his collegiate career at Morehouse he was determined to get into the rap scene, forming relationships with Waka Flocka’s homie YG Hootie way back in 2002. But getting in the game isn’t as easy as it looks on TV and after butting his head, Jerz made a tactical withdrawal to the West Coast, adding their DNA to his musical makeup. After a second stint in the ATL, he realized that the evolution of his sound was not fit for the trap and migrated to Washington, DC.
He began to feel constricted by the boundaries of traditional Hip-Hop and began to drift closer to Trance and electronic Genres. Now he stands ready to make his own mark, armed with Gospel and Hip-Hop and pushing into new territory. We sat down with Jerztheproducer to figure out how the hell you go from Gospel, to Hip-Hop to…Trance. It went a little something like this.
