What’s up to all of the Planet Ill crew & Good Wishes for all in the year 2011!
It’s that time again for your weekly
Indiesent Exposure installment of FREE quality music downloads & info about independent music artists of different genres who deserve serious credit for keeping things lively & original in the world of music.
Post by post,
Indiesent Exposure is set to give your ears some temporary respite from the daily audio wackness that bombards the masses through the mainstream radio’s definitions of Hip-Hop, Rock, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, House, World Music and more.
If you like what you hear and download in this section, PLEASE support (monetarily and otherwise) these artists as much as you can in the future – hit up their websites, purchase some product, go to their shows, etc.
In this week’s Indiesent Exposure audio selection, we’re going jump off your New Year right with some high grade Hip-Hop straight from two modern day veterans in the biz. Whenever you have the chance, please let all of the talented Indiesent Exposure artists and the Planet Ill crew know what you think of the music in our comments section! Here we go:
Sometimes finding quality street Hip-Hop from any region that actually has a soul behind the beats & rhymes lately – especially on the mainstream airwaves – feels as rare as finding a Pop song that doesn’t lean on Autotune for its “talent.”
The Rising to the Top collab mixtape from mic master Sean Price (aka Ruck of Heltah Skeltah) & prolific producer/MC Agallah The Don Bishop shows in high style that the New York Street-Hop style is still alive, kicking & relevant. Sean Price & Agallah display their 15+ year careers of experience behind the boards and as MCs is not for nothing on the 14 track project, organically feeding off of each others energy, lyrical skills and vibes throughout each track.
Rising to the Top features some seriously hard Soul, Jazz & Rock sampled production from Agallah, ready-made for listeners either to ride or zone out to whenever ready. There’s a nice balance of braggadocios and introspective rhymes on the mixtape, which nicely keeps the tape from becoming another audio version of Scarface.
The music gives the listeners a smoothed-out vision of the ups and downs of the street mentality. Both artists’ fan bases should be satisfied with this project and prepped for full-length releases later this year. Rising to the Top is quality Hip-Hop music – dope beats, solid rhymes and balanced enough subjects to keep feet tapping & heads active. Sean P and The Don Bishop have set the bar high for the coming flood of mixtape releases this year- can’t wait to see what drops from their respective camps next.
