Chris Brown is probably the most talented all-round male R&B artist of his generation. As a stage performer he is lightyears beyond his contemporaries and vocally he’s more than solid. Add in the good looks, the charisma and the height and you have a package that not even poor handlers and Twitter meltdowns can derail. His latest number one R& B song, “No Bullshit” from his newest mixtape Fan of a Fan is more evidence of what makes Brown special.
Soft piano keys make way to bubbling synth and a muffled knock of a drum beats of a slow, spoon-slapping rhythm. Harps and flutes create a lush, rolling melody that keeps your ears listening and doesn’t simply rest on the back of the loop. The song is well arranged and light synth flies atop the construction at the edges at delayed intervals
It’s 3 AM after all the club time or whatever you do before the sun rises and after the bar closes. You get that ring from Breezy and you already know what’s up. We all got caller ID and if you answer at 3AM you already know what’s up. We not going to the Waffle house, and we are not playing cards. With that being said, Young Chris is actually nice about it, and there’s no over aggression or bedroom bully talk. He is very conspicuous in his condom mention which is a good thing (no glove no love) and he’s even tell you when.
This song is another hit and proof that even when you are talking about the same old shit, it’s cool when it’s done right. How many songs have you heard in the past month that involve after club activities and claims of being able to get down till the early morn? Now how many of those are fucking with this? Not many. Young dudes, take note. He was close to the crown before Rihanna Gate and after a bunch of stumbles, he’s ready to snatch it. It will be interesting to see if he can actually pull it off. No bullshit.
