Kid Sister’s entry into the Hip-Hop world was dubious at best. The Chicago artist came in under the watchful eye of Kanye West’s tour DJ A-Trak and even signed on his label. The fact that she was dating escaped no one and even with a West guest on her single, “Pro Nails” her debut was rather inauspicious. Perhaps with that in mind, the Kid takes a step to the left, immersing herself in 2010’s club/dance craze with her new single “Kiss Kiss Kiss,” from her coming mixtape, Fool’s Gold.
The bounce is immediately evident as is all the ambient noise you come to expect with the music. There are sirens and different drum sets that quicken when a pace change is called for. The rhythm is something you’ve heard before with a flute like wrinkle for some added flavor. A water drop sound effects close the song out.
Kid Sister has good energy o this and her voice goes his low and accented sometimes even to a whisper. Lyically the song doesn’t go anywhere, simply operating as a call out anthem for all the ladies all the fellas, etc. only kid sister doesn’t actually ask them to do anything. The Kiss refrain is almost an afterthought; there’s no one to kiss, no reason to kiss.
Sometimes riding the wave is the safe thing to do if you want to get in something under the radar. Considering Kid Sis lives under the radar, she has to do something much more compelling to get out into the light. “Kiss Kiss Kiss” is good for a play or two but it’s not a game changer. Couple drinks, some great speakers and maybe in the dark ass club you can find someone to…
