The Planet, along with Chicago’s own Square-One of B-Side Radio, have joined forces to bring you the week in review in Hip-Hop and current events, along with the occasional special guest and some music to keep you moving through your day.
This week’s episode we discuss the recent Homeland Security/ICE take down of 80 websites, including a few Hip-Hop blogs. What does that mean for the Rap blogosphere and was it even legal for the sites to be seized? Will people migrate to servers outside of the US to escape jurisdiction? Are labels that send out links for promo use turning around and snitching on the blogs?
We briefly touch on Redman’s recent anti-DefJam rumblings and whether or not the famed label is still behind their artists. Is independence the way to go for older artists?
Is Diddy mounting a real comeback with Dirty money or is it a washout? We discuss the Source Magazine’s nomination of Rick Ross man of the year and if its the right call. We touch briefly on the brief diss fest between Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj and Foxxy Brown.
The highlight of the show is our in-depth interview with 90s legend AZ on the heels on the 15th anniversary of his debut Doe or Die. AZ talks about being on the set of the “Dead Presidents” video with Jay-Z and Biggie as well as bringing and end to the idea of a full Nas collaboration album and address rumors that he’s hanging up the mic after Doe or Die 2 in 2011.
