While everyone is making a big to do over these producer day promotions, spearheaded by Mr. West, Lloyd Banks has been putting out some quality work on the road to The Hunger For More 2. He’s been guesting on tracks and beasting out but when it’s time to get down for his own, he’s been inspired, crafting a tough stream of dope music for his Blue Friday series. His latest work, “Make Money,” continues that streak, putting a musical twist on a familiar story.
Producer Dough Pecsi’s track features spread-out snare drums and digital keys roll throughout the track with rough, recurring drums providing the muscle. There is ambient synth serves as a mini bridge, altering the mood of the beat with its mid measure introduction. The song has a Swizz Beatzian bump to it, with simple elements that sound like a child could have made it with a Casio keyboard, but a certified bump that belies its simplicity.
Banks’ voice is less strained on this track than it’s sounded recently and more understandable. He’s not straining or hoarse sounding and that’s to the benefit of the track. His swag with get the honeys naked, he got the Bentley coupe and more rocks than an avalanche with HD clarity. You better believe he’s going to change when he gets bigger: whips address and availability. The nerve of you trying to match him when you’re posted up in your momma’s house and like most rappers he’s going to need a blondie (Barbie) on his arm when he’s reached the apex of affluence. You’re only taking up space if you’re not out to “Make Money.”
You’ve heard this song before in essence but sometimes it’s not the dinner it’s the presentation that wins and Banks puts winning garnish on a regular idea. Burger + gravy= Salisbury steak. “Make Money.” Enjoy.
